Venetian Marbled Motif Tie

From the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a handsome Venetian Marbleized Motif Tie is based on marbled paper in Il Monte, Opera Nova di Recami in the Museum’s collection, published in Venice (after 1557) by Giovanni & Marchio Sessa. This intricate marble effect is achieved by the careful transferring of colored inks floated on the surface of water to paper.
